Sitawa Namwalie

 

Sitawa Namwalie is an award-winning Kenyan poet, playwright, and performing artist, celebrated for her dramatized poetry performances that fuse poetry with traditional Kenyan music. Her first production, Cut off My Tongue, toured Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and the UK’s Hay Festival. Sitawa’s works include plays, short stories, and poetry productions such as Homecoming (2010), Silence is a Woman (2014), Room of Lost Names (2015, translated into French in 2020), Taking My Father Home (2020), and Escape the Musical (2024). She holds a BSc in Botany and Zoology from the University of Nairobi and an MA in Environment, Society and Technology from Clark University, USA.
