Tunde Onakoya

Tunde Onakoya is a Nigerian chess master, social entrepreneur, and founder of Chess in Slums Africa, which uses chess to empower children in underserved communities. Growing up in the slums of Ikorodu, Lagos, he discovered chess as a lifeline and has since provided scholarships, mentorship, and educational support to hundreds of children. In 2024, he broke the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon in Times Square, raising global awareness for children without access to education. He also leads initiatives like Square Chess and the Tunde Onakoya Chess Club, promoting chess as a cultural and educational movement worldwide.
