Mũmbi Kaigwa

Mũmbi Kaigwa is a multi-talented artist in theatre, film, and television. With a B.A. in French and Arabic and an M.Sc. in Management and Organisational Development, she brings a unique blend of skills to her work. After working with the United Nations for 10 years, Mũmbi founded two theatre companies whose aim is to use performance art as therapy to address social issues. She has travelled extensively with her original work and conducted community-driven peace-building workshops across Kenya and Tanzania. Her works include the play “Orchid”, tackling obstetric fistula. Her recent play, “The Beanie”, was commissioned by Theatre for One and New York University (NYU), Abu Dhabi, and had more than 50 online performances. She has appeared in films and television shows, including “Country Queen” on Netflix. Mũmbi has received awards for her contributions to arts and culture in Africa.
